After searching the internet for a large chiminea to replace my aging clay one I came across the Chiminea Shop’s excellent website displaying a huge choice of chimineas and accessories all at very reasonable prices.

The website is a joy to browse through and I soon settled on an extra large cast iron chiminea and ordered it. Communication from the shop regarding my order was first-rate and I was kept informed of progress.

Solid and durable chiminea

I bought a Toledo Cast Iron Chiminea, extra large size to replace the huge clay one I had for about 6 years which finally gave up the ghost. Despite best care it cracked though and became unsafe. The new model came in three main sections and it helps if you have long arms to secure the nuts and bolts that hold it together. On lighting it draws well and soon gets very hot indeed. Its essential to purchase a weather proof cover to keep the rain out because despite having a heavy cast iron chimney lid water still blows in through the opening and pools in the base which soon gets a bloom of rust. I've got around this problem by drilling a couple of holes in the base to let any accumulated water drain away. All in all, I'm very pleased with the new fire pot as it's all cast iron, not like some which have a sheet metal chimney which I reckon will soon rust away and I'm looking forward to cooking some bonfire night food on it.
